Growing Resilient Landscapes Through Tree Planting
Healthy ecosystems are essential to thriving farms and thriving communities. That’s why our tree‑planting programme is rooted in long‑term environmental restoration, biodiversity protection and empowering the communities around us.
Restoring Nature With Native Trees
Across our farms, we are actively removing invasive and non‑native species and replacing them with indigenous trees that support local biodiversity and long‑term soil and water health. In 2024 alone, we planted over 8,000 trees across our own farms — a significant step toward restoring natural habitats and strengthening ecosystem resilience.
Supporting Communities With Trees That Sustain
Our commitment extends beyond our farms. In 2024, we donated approximately 700 fruit trees and 2,000 indigenous trees to our staff and surrounding communities. These trees provide shade, nutrition, and long-lasting environmental benefits, helping families and neighbourhoods thrive for generations.
Partnering for Landscape Conservation in Ethiopia
In Sher Ethiopia, we have partnered with local communities and environmental groups to restore the hills west of Ziway. This collaborative project focuses on:
- Reforestation to conserve water sources
- Improving the local micro‑climate
- Protecting the long‑term health of the surrounding ecosystems
The programme goes beyond planting — it includes watering, ongoing maintenance, and community training sessions on environmental stewardship and tree care to ensure every seedling reaches maturity.
Planting Today for a Greener Future
Through our tree‑planting projects, we are strengthening biodiversity, restoring natural landscapes, and empowering communities to protect their environment. Together, we are growing a greener, more resilient future.
