The Fairtrade Sponsorship Program has changed my life. When my mother was an employee, I was able to go to tertiary education, without the program this would not have been possible. Fairtrade Premium has changed workers lives and their children’s lives and given educational opportunities to people which they would have otherwise never received. Fairtrade premium has transformed my life.

I was then given the opportunity by Mr Gerrit Barnhoorn to set up a physiotherapy-department at the Sher Ethiopia hospital. This was a fantastic opportunity and has been a wonderful challenge. I am passionate about employees’ safety and environmental conservation. In 2020, through my leadership, the region established a tree nursery for growing indigenous tree seedlings. Since initiation, we have procured more than 3500 seedlings and planted over 2500 indigenous trees in non-agricultural land, which could have been left bare. Our aim is to plant 4000 in total by 2021.
